RichF - Sony did respond to the whirlwind of complaints about the lack of VT on their machines. Most recent portables have had new BIOS releases in the last few months to enable VT. Check out your local Sony Support site for your models.

I have two Sony Vaio VGN SZ-750N/C computers. I also selected these computers because of the processor capabilites and because these computers were so powerful. They were also very expensive. Now that I upgraded to Windows 7, I decided to try and install some XP generation software (Adobe PhotoShop and more), but I had to install the downloaded package after Virtualization was turned on. The BIOS is not capable of letting me do that. I am OUTRAGED! I bought the best and got the worst. I wrote Sony and they have not responded. I suggest that everyone with this issue write them and write them and write them. THis is INSANE!

Yea, I had the same problem with java 6 update 18. I uninstalled that and let the computer restart with whatever version it chose. There are about 5 versions currently installed on my Win XP machine. The PC came up running Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_07-b06) and now my SDM Security Audit is working. Thanks for the help.

What time and effort to load in some software!

You can't beat a real machine on an old crt tv.

These days I tend to stick to emulation for my Speccy playing - no screechy load noises here!

Now, time for me to get back to <a href="http://zxspectrumgames.blogspot.com" rel="nofollow">Spectrum Games</a>

Nice article.
