Or, more succinctly: Southern Water are idiots.
Lindsay had a Southern Water account for her house in Portsmouth and when she moved in with me she told them to cancel her account. They wanted a forwarding address for her, so she gave them our place in Winchester.
They promptly:
- Cancelled her Portsmouth account
- Sent me a letter thanking me for advising them of my moving out of my house.
- Sent Lindsay a letter (to our address) advising her of her new payment details.
So last week I had to phone them up and point out that while Lindsay is living here, she’s not paying the water bill and more importantly: that I haven’t moved out! They removed Lindsay from the account and made sure everything was back to normal. Or so they said.
This week I found out that when they sent me the “moving out” letter last week, they had also cancelled my Direct Debit! So today I received a letter and new “Payment Card” inviting me to go to my local Post Office or PayPoint outlet to pay my bill! So now I have to go through the process of reinstating my Direct Debit with them.
Argh!
