Another post in a series designed to help Future-Howard work out why things have broken.
If you install Java 6 Update 13 and then try and log into Cisco SDM 2.5 it will fail. The SDM console will not load.
I found I had to go back to Java 6 Update 6 (available at the Java archive page, or direct download.).
With that the Cisco SDM started working again. I’ve not found anything about this on the Cisco site.
Thanks for this! It was driving me crazy!
yep, broke for me too.
Thanks for the information. I have run into this before but it seems that the Java versions keep going farther back. I knew not to update mine but it is running Java 6 Update 7 and that wasn’t working either.
I had the same problem, but this site helped me fix it! Then i found Java 7 Beta and now everything works again in Vista without any pesky downgrading. Thanks again!
Thanks,
this helped lot! I had exactly this problem!
This was making crazy i really appreciate your effort
Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Version 6 Update 14 (build 1.6.0_14-b08) fixes the problem.
But it seems that SDM work unstable and crashes on certain items.
Hi,
After removing a bit more of the slight hair I have left I did some experimenting and comparing. A WinXP Pro and a W2k3 machine both had Java 6u14 (build 1.6.0_11) on them and SDM would load and worked fine with the exception that the Security Audit wouldn’t run.
Rolled both machines back to Java 6u11 and all’s fine.
To note I’m using Firefox 3.51 for the browser.
I’m going to give the Version 6 Update 14 (build 1.6.0_14-b08) mentioned above a whirl and see what shakes!
Cheers!
Hi,
Thanks for the information, I discovered the error on the Java console (IndexOutOfRange), and then searched of bugs in the SDM, it was a real headache.
This is STILL a problem, and boy am I glad I found this page. I actually updated Java once more thinking maybe I was on an old version. I never would have though I was on too new a version.
THANKS!!!
Thanks for putting this post up, I encountered the same problem this morning.
Yea, I had the same problem with java 6 update 18. I uninstalled that and let the computer restart with whatever version it chose. There are about 5 versions currently installed on my Win XP machine. The PC came up running Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_07-b06) and now my SDM Security Audit is working. Thanks for the help.
