A games session at Teech’s this Friday gave us the excuse we needed to present, for the first time, the cnut trophies.  We’ve not awarded the UT2004 trophy yet, but the RoN trophy - and the BottomFeeder wooden spoon - were both up for grabs.  In true award presentation style we have photos of the recipient shaking hands with the person giving the award - in this case our own Teech.

Here Teech presents Shep with the cnut trophy for Rise of Nations, after an epic battle in which Shep stormed ahead and stayed ahead on points despite Teech’s best efforts to steal the win.  The glint in Teech’s eyes here is the bitterness of losing… well not “losing” as such, just “not winning”.

And of course someone has to take away the wooden spoon for our “BottomFeeder” prize.  Monster was playing remotely but appeared last on points, so in the style of all great awards ceremonies someone (me) had to collect the trophy on his behalf.  As you can see its a wooden spoon mounted in a marble base.  A fitting celebration of Monster’s RoN prowess this evening!

The next night I presented the award to Phil at his home. Here he is accepting the award with good grace and good humour - and not, as Mr Peat surmises, with the intention to hit me with it! Catherine (who is just out of picture) looked on slightly bemused at how seriously we’re taking all this. “You’ll all have T-shirts next,” she said “which you’ll all have to wear on games nights.” Hmmmm…

Next major Games Night at mine on the 24th March where trophies will be awarded again!
