I’m so proud…

We’re number one! We’re number one!

Lots of people use the Internet to timeshift television - they download episodes of TV shows that they missed. It turns out that the UK is ahead of the rest of the pack when it comes to doing this - accounting for nearly 40% of the world’s TV downloads! The US limps in at number 3 with just 7%.

I’ve downloaded a fair few eps in my time, the majority of it being Alias episodes. Why do I do this? Simple (and UK TV companies pay attention!) I don’t like watching badly edited versions of TV shows, in the middle of the night, lazily converted from 16:9 to 4:3 and summarily pre-empted for crap sports shows. That’s why I download high-def widescreen copies of Alias complete with 5.1 surround sound. When Five or Sky or whoever has the rights to Alias these days actually treats the show with some level of respect, I’ll stop pirating it!
